Bryan Mbeumo has completed a £71m transfer from Brentford to Manchester United, signing a five-year contract. The Cameroon international described the move as joining 'the club of my dreams'.
The 25-year-old, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, was a key target for head coach Ruben Amorim. United agreed an initial £65m fee with a further £6m in add-ons after several bids.
'As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity,' Mbeumo said. 'My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here.'
United finished 15th in the Premier League last season and are without European football. Mbeumo is part of Amorim's rebuild, alongside Matheus Cunha. He will join the squad for their US tour in the coming days.
Director of football Jason Wilcox praised Mbeumo's record: 'Bryan's goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional. His remarkable consistency has put him among the most productive players in England for the last three seasons.'
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is expected to complete a loan move to Barcelona on Wednesday, with the La Liga champions covering his wages and an option to buy for €35m next summer.
