Manchester United are on the verge of securing the signing of midfielder Ederson from Serie A side Atalanta for a fee of up to £38 million, marking the first acquisition under permanent head coach Michael Carrick. The move aims to strengthen the midfield ahead of Casemiro's departure next month.
Financial turnaround
The club reported a significant operating profit of £37.7 million over a nine-month period on Wednesday, a stark contrast to the £3.2 million loss recorded in the previous year. Chief executive Omar Berrada expressed positivity about the club's progress, attributing the improvements to “headcount reduction programs” and restructuring initiatives implemented following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's co-ownership.
Revenue and EBITDA forecasts
Manchester United has revised its revenue guidance upwards from £660 million to £665 million and increased its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) forecast to £210 million. The men's team securing third place in the Premier League and Champions League qualification has also contributed to the positive outlook.
Other developments
Other club developments include ongoing work towards building a new 100,000-seater stadium. Additionally, the club disclosed that the dismissal of former manager Ruben Amorim and his staff incurred costs approaching £16.7 million.
