Amazon has announced plans to expand its ultra-fast 30-minute drop-off service, known as Amazon Now, to dozens of cities across the United States. The service, which promises delivery in half an hour or less, is already available in major locations such as Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia, and Seattle.
Expansion Details
On Tuesday, the online retail giant revealed that the offer would be extended to tens of millions of additional customers by the end of the year. In a statement, Amazon stated that the service is being rapidly expanded in numerous cities, including Austin, Houston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Denver, and Oklahoma City.
Delivery Costs
However, the service comes with a significant delivery cost for non-Prime users. Customers without a Prime membership will be charged a $13.99 delivery fee per order, compared to just $3.99 for Prime members. Furthermore, an additional fee will be applied to smaller orders valued below $15: an extra $3.99 for those without Prime, or $1.99 for Prime members.
Products available through Amazon Now include dairy and eggs, fresh produce, electronics, and personal care items like soap and toothpaste. The feature can be accessed via a banner on the Amazon app or homepage in areas where the service is available. The company uses a number of smaller locations near customers' homes or workplaces to guarantee the fast turnaround.
Other Delivery Options
Amazon's other speedy delivery options include Prime Air drone delivery, with drop-offs in under 60 minutes across nine locations. One- to three-hour delivery and same-day options are also available across much of the country.
In 2025, Amazon delivered more than 13 billion items on the same day or the next day globally, according to the release. In the United States, Prime members received eight billion items on the same day or the next day. Groceries and everyday essentials accounted for half of those U.S. deliveries.
Udit Madan, senior vice president of Amazon Worldwide Operations, said in the release: 'Amazon Now is for when you need or want the convenience of getting your Amazon order delivered in 30 minutes or less. With thousands of items available for ultra-fast delivery, you can get everything from groceries for dinner, to AirPods before a flight, to household essentials like laundry detergent or toothpaste delivered right to your door.'
