Reality television star Kim Kardashian has proudly unveiled her youngest son's foray into the world of acting, sharing a first look at his skills after he secured a part in a major new animated production.
A Star Is Born: Psalm's Big Break
Psalm West, the six-year-old son of Kim Kardashian and her former husband Kanye West, has landed a pivotal role in the forthcoming family film The Angry Birds Movie 3. The youngster will star alongside established actors Jason Sudeikis and Rachel Bloom in the children's caper, marking his professional acting debut despite having no prior experience.
The exciting news was first revealed in an episode of Kardashian's Hulu reality series, The Kardashians, which featured Psalm's audition. However, a broader audience was given a special glimpse into the recording studio this week. On Monday, the official Angry Birds Instagram account released behind-the-scenes footage of the rarely-seen child actor.
Behind the Scenes: A Proud Mother Moment
In the heartwarming clips, a beaming Kim Kardashian, 45, watches with visible pride as her son works through his scenes with the film's director, John Rice. Psalm can be seen confidently reading various words and phrases into a microphone, showcasing what his mother describes as his "cutest voice."
"Today was so special. He loved it!" Kardashian raved after the session. "I feel like people don't really know Psalm, but he's the smartest, silliest little boy. He has the cutest voice, and when they called and asked if he was interested in this role of a new bird, he was so excited."
Director John Rice offered enthusiastic encouragement throughout, telling the young star: "Your voice is so cool. I love your voice."
Public and Family Reaction
Social media users were quick to echo the director's sentiments, flooding the comments section with praise for Psalm's vocal talents. Kardashian later explained that the production team had initially approached her with the offer for Psalm to join the cast. In scenes that aired in November, the six-year-old was informed he would play the son of two lead characters—birds Red, voiced by Ted Lasso star Sudeikis, and Silver, played by Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Bloom.
"I'm just so excited because he’s so excited," Kardashian trilled at the time, noting that Red was already Psalm's favourite character from the films and the original mobile game series.
In a confessional interview, the TV personality elaborated on why her son was perfectly suited for his moment in the spotlight. "He’s a total go-with-the-flow kid," she said. "I can give him Legos and say sit here for five hours, I have to work, and he’ll just be, 'OK mommy.'"
She described Psalm as a "dream child" who "never says no, never goes against anything." Kardashian added, "And [he's] the most independent. He loves to dance. He would never have a tantrum. He’s just so chill."
Psalm is the youngest of Kardashian's four children with Kanye West, joining siblings North, 12, Saint, nine, and Chicago, seven.
