Solar Opposites: 'Absolutely Perfect' Comedy with 95% Rating Hits Netflix UK
Solar Opposites Comedy Series Now Streaming on Netflix UK

An acclaimed animated comedy series, hailed by fans as 'absolutely perfect', has landed on Netflix for UK viewers. Solar Opposites, which holds an impressive 95% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, became available on the platform from December 15.

From Hulu to Netflix: A New Home for UK Fans

Previously exclusive to Disney Plus under its Hulu branding, the show's arrival on Netflix offers a new streaming option for British audiences who have yet to discover it. The series, which originally aired from 2020, concluded with its sixth season earlier this year. Netflix UK currently hosts the complete first five seasons, with a release date for the sixth and final season still to be announced for the region.

The show was co-created by Justin Roiland, the mind behind Rick and Morty, who teamed up with writer Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks). Its premise follows a family of aliens who relocate to middle America after an asteroid destroys their home planet, leading to constant debate about whether Earth is an upgrade.

A Stellar Cast and a Major Recasting

Roiland originally voiced the lead alien, Korvo, but was replaced from the fourth season onwards by British actor Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) following Roiland's departure from the project in 2023. The core voice cast features Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley) and Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs), with frequent guest appearances from stars like Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Tiffany Haddish, and Alfred Molina.

Critical Acclaim and Binge-Worthy Praise

The series has garnered exceptional reviews, with seasons two through five each achieving a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans frequently praise its binge-worthy nature, with many reporting they devoured multiple seasons in just a few days.

One viewer commented online: "Hilarious and original show. It's super easy to watch and keep watching. I recently binged three seasons in two days." Another added: "Flawless. The fun and exciting characters, the small details/background Easter eggs, everything is great."

A particular highlight for many is the show's inventive subplots, especially one involving a 'The Wall' storyline, where shrunken humans live in a vast terrarium. One fan noted: "What else can I say about 'The Wall' that has not already been said. This is an amazing show."

With its blend of quirky sci-fi gadgets, sharp humour, and serialised stories, Solar Opposites offers a compelling alternative for fans of Rick and Morty, Futurama, and similar animated hits. All available seasons are streaming now on Netflix UK.
