JLS Star Aston Merrygold Reveals Which Bandmate Would Be Best Traitor
Aston Merrygold Names Best JLS Traitor on The Traitors

Aston Merrygold, star of JLS, has revealed which of his bandmates he believes would excel as a Traitor on the hit BBC show The Traitors, while admitting he himself would struggle to keep a secret. Speaking to the Daily Star, the singer joked that his own honesty would likely betray him if he participated in the psychological reality series.

When asked if he would be suited to the game, Aston said: “Traitors? I feel like I’d have to act on The Traitors and not be me. I would give it away clear as day. It would be good though. Will you put the word in for me for The Traitors?”

Aston Analyzes His Bandmates

The hit BBC series divides contestants secretly into Traitors and Faithfuls, with Traitors aiming to eliminate players without detection. Aston didn’t hesitate to assess his bandmates’ suitability for the deceptive role, starting with Marvin Humes.

He noted Marvin’s experience on reality TV, particularly I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, where he kept his participation secret until a week before. Aston said: “The only way I could probably put this is when Marvin did The Jungle, he knew about that for a little while and he only told us that week before. So he said he had to 'come clean about something' as there were some dates in the diary he wouldn't be able to do for our tour.” Despite this, Aston suggested Marvin’s ability to hold back information could make him a strong Traitor, even if he might crack under pressure.

JB Gill: Too Honest for Deception

Turning to JB Gill, Aston was more definitive. “JB can’t lie,” he said. “He’d be a very good Faithful.” This effectively ruled JB out as a potential Traitor, suggesting he would be better suited to catching deception rather than carrying it out.

As for Oritsé Williams, Aston didn’t give a clear verdict, joking that analyzing his bandmates felt like “throwing them to the lions.”

The Traitors Continues to Dominate TV

The candid chat comes as The Traitors remains a UK television phenomenon, with fans speculating on which celebrities could handle the game’s intense blend of strategy, trust, and deception. For Aston, the idea of betraying people on screen remains daunting. “I feel like I’d give it away,” he admitted. “It would be clear as day.”
