A former child star from the hit reality series Supernanny has left fans astonished after making an unexpected appearance on E4's Celebs Go Dating. Meghann Cooke, who featured on Jo Frost's parenting programme back in 2005 at the age of nine, has returned to television more than two decades later.
During her original stint on the show, Meghann famously challenged the behaviour expert, correcting her pronunciation of the word "unacceptable." The memorable exchange quickly turned into a viral meme that continues to circulate online to this day.
Now, in the current series of Celebs Go Dating, Meghann has resurfaced on the small screen. In a recent episode, former rugby union player James Haskell, 41, found himself on a date with the one-time Supernanny participant.
Meghann revealed to James that her family had appeared on the popular show. James could not resist asking: "How bad were you?" Seeming somewhat hesitant, Meghann replied: "Erm, it's quite a well-known episode." When he pressed her further, she confessed: "I bit her, I hit her, I called her a b***h." James appeared shocked before asking: "So you were an ill-disciplined little nightmare?" Meghann pushed back against this characterisation, disagreeing and maintaining she was merely "challenging."
The clip has since gone viral on Instagram, racking up three million views and over 1,000 comments – including one from Supernanny herself. Jo remarked: "She was a beautiful child who could be challenging in her own right to her parents, as she was very smart and that was challenging for her father especially as he lacked patience to meet her where [she] needed him too."
The 55-year-old went on to say: "HOWEVER she was also a child who was incredibly sensitive and one who was caught between a volatile relationship her parents were in. She took the emotional impact for her sisters and protected them a lot too from the environment that was far from peaceful. She was fascinated by my crew and didn't really realise the full deeper extent of why I was there because she was too young, so I believe I felt like a threat. But her mother, may she rest in peace, loved her girls and wanted them to springboard from the show into some kind of entertainment so no surprise seeing Meghann on here and no doubt is looking over them proud. It is lovely to see Meghann a grown woman."
Celebs Go Dating returns at 9pm Monday 18 May on E4 and is available to stream on Channel 4.
