Scheffler's 'Childish' Caddie Deal in Masters Battle

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is still in contention for the Masters title, and his caddie Ted Scott stands to benefit financially from a potential victory. Scheffler, who shot a stunning round of 65 on Saturday, is four strokes behind joint leaders Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young. A win would earn him £3.35 million, with Scott likely receiving a 10 per cent share, as is typical in golf.

Scheffler has previously admitted he is unaware of the exact financial arrangement with his caddie. Speaking on the Pardon My Take podcast in 2024, he said: 'I don't really think about the money that much. We have a girl that helps us pay bills basically because I'm a child and can't keep track of all that stuff! She texts me at the end of each week, saying: "Hey, this is how much we're paying Ted." I'm like: "That's great."'

Scheffler began the tournament with a round of 70 but slipped down the leaderboard after a disappointing 74 on Friday. However, his brilliant 65 on Saturday, the joint best round of the week alongside McIlroy and Young, has put him back in contention. He will start his final round at 6.52pm, paired with Chinese star Li Haotong.

Reflecting on his round, Scheffler said: 'I hit it really nice today. I felt like I was very sharp with the irons. I did what I needed to do. Went out and executed to give myself some opportunities, and more of that tomorrow, and I think I'll be in a good spot.'

Scheffler and Scott have worked together since 2021, and a third Masters victory would further cement Scheffler's place at the top of the golf rankings.
