Former X Factor finalist and American Idol contestant Scarlett Lee has shared joyous personal news, announcing she is expecting her first child with her husband, Nathan Shaw.
A Heartfelt Announcement on Social Media
The 28-year-old singer, who found fame on the British talent show, revealed her pregnancy to fans via her Instagram page on Thursday. She posted a tender poem alongside a framed ultrasound image, writing: 'Ten little fingers, two little toes. Two beautiful eyes and a cute button nose. Singing along to mummy at all her shows.'
In her caption, Scarlett expressed her and her husband's profound happiness, stating: 'For this child we have prayed and the Lord has granted our hearts desire.' She confirmed the baby, a boy named Cole, is due to arrive in August 2026. The couple have been married for six years.
From X Factor Fan Favourite to American Idol Success
Scarlett Lee first captured public attention as a bubbly, makeup artist contestant on the 15th series of The X Factor in 2018, where her powerful voice and distinctive deep tan made her an instant fan favourite. She finished as runner-up to winner Dalton Harris.
Six years later, she showcased her enduring talent on the American stage, auditioning for American Idol. Performing a stunning rendition of Emeli Sandé's 'Clown', she impressed judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, earning a unanimous vote to proceed to the Hollywood stage.
Katy Perry praised her performance, noting how her artistry shone through, saying: 'You become Scarlett Lee the artist. The possible next American Idol.' Lionel Richie added that her trip was 'worth it', commending her execution.
Overcoming Adversity and Building a Future
Scarlett's journey hasn't been without hardship. During her X Factor stint, her family home was devastated by a serious fire, which left her with burns to her eyes. Despite the trauma, she continued to rehearse for the competition.
In 2019, she married her childhood sweetheart, Nathan Shaw, in a lavish ceremony in Epsom, Surrey, attended by 350 guests including Love Island stars. She has continued to pursue her music career, most recently collaborating with Katie Price on new material.
Now, Scarlett and Nathan are eagerly anticipating their next chapter as parents. The singer concluded her announcement by saying: 'We cannot wait for our next chapter of being mummy and daddy and I cannot wait to share my music journey with our little blessing.'
